Bantayan Island: Adventure and Travel Guide




            Bantayan Island is one of the beaches in Cebu that has the widest white sand shore. Tourists from around the world visit this paradise to enjoy the clear blue water and get away from what ever they want to get away from. Also, the place is perfect for everyone – swimmers and non-swimmers.

            The place is to die for. We’ve been planning to visit this place since forever but luckily, after so many delays we have finally achieved it. We planned the trip a few days before our desired travel date. Since every time we plan it, it always gets cancelled. So our trick now is to not to plan trips ahead of time. As what everyone says, the best adventures are those unplanned.

            Two days is more than enough(for us!) as the island is not that huge. We stayed there for around 24 hours.

Here’s our itinerary:

Day 1

5:00 AM – Meet at Emall, Ride 01K to North Bus Terminal
6:00 AM – Ride a Bus bound to Hagnaya Port, Departure – Fare: P165
                (We rode the Bus bound directly to Bantayan Island. The fare is P215. If your destination is Kota Beach, ride the bus bound to Hagnaya Port. Don’t be like us! Haha)
10: 00 AM – Arrival at Hagnaya Port. Buy tickets for Ferry Boat – Fare: P170
                        Other Fees:
                                     Terminal Fee: P10
                                     Ecological Fee: P30 (upon arrival in Bantayan Island)
10:30 AM – Departure from Hagnaya Port
12:00 NN – Arrival in Bantayan Island
                   Lunch at carenderia – Budget: P60
1:00 PM – Ride a Tricycle to Kota Beach – Fare: P20
1:15 PM – Arrival at Resort - Room good for 4 – P1,500  (P375 each)
                (We haven’t booked a place on where to stay so we asked manong driver to drop us to a place where the room rates are cheap. He dropped us at 5 Pearl. We rested until 2:30 pm)
2:30 PM – Beach Bumming at Kota beach
4:00 PM – Bicycle Trip – Rental: P150 (for 24 hours)
                (our destination? Jolibee Haha)
6:30 PM – Back to our Room
                (Power nap turned to deep sleep)
8:00 PM – Dinner at Carenderia – P50

DAY 2

4:30 AM – Wake Up. Preparation Time
5:00 AM – Breakfast at Silogan – Budget: P60
6:00 AM – Beach Bumming at Kota Beach
                (we were not able to witness sunrise because breakfast is not served immediately)
*We went to Kota Beach Resort to take a picture on the Camp Sawi signage but we are told that it was transferred to Oboob Mangroves
7:00 AM – Land tour. Tricycle Package: P400 (P100 each since we’re 4)
7:30 AM – Arrival in Oboob Mangroves – Entrance Fee: P50
                 Food for Fish Feeding: P5
                                (Do not miss this place, it is so nice. And I recommend that you come here early in the morning just like what we did. This is where the CAMP SAWI signage is being transferred.)
8:30 AM – Cliff Diving
                                (It is best to come here in the morning while it’s high tide. No entrance fee)
9:30 AM – Ogtong Cave – Entrance Fee: P200
                                (I don’t recommend this, it’s not worth the entrance fee trust me)
11:00 AM – Back to our Room. Prepare for Check Out.
            (We did not proceed to Paradise Beach because after all it’s just a beach but if you want, the entrance fee is P50)
12:00 NN – Lunch at Big Jel’s Restomeat – Budget: P150
                (Guys, I tell you their food is the best. You MUST dine here. My favourite is the Calamares. Yumyum!)
1:15 PM – Ride Tricycle to Bantayan Island Terminal – Fare: P20
1:30 PM – Buy tickets for Ferry Boat – Fare: P170
                        Other Fee:
                                     Terminal Fee: P10
2:00 PM – Departure from Bantayan Island
3:00 PM – Arrival in Hagnaya Port
4:00 PM – Ride a Bus to North Bus Terminal – Fare: P165

If you have more budget, you can also try their Island Hopping package. The Boat rental is P800, I don’t know how many people is the boat for since I did not ask. But I’m sure that it’s good for 4 persons. You can ask the tricycle drivers for more information as they have contacts.
